lazer on a taurus
Has any one had trouble with the weight of a lazer on the rail of a Taurus causeing it to nosedive the rounds in the mag and jam?
I just bought a used PT 24/7 PRO and it shot great! But when I put a Insight M6 on it it started to jam.
Anybody ever heard of this? It seems that the plastic frame flexes and causes a misalignment for the feed ramp?!?
Thank You for any input

take it back off and see if it still jams, may have to live without it. you didn't tighten it down so tight it may be warping the frame, or try another ammo. 0 -
pistol shots just plain great without it. the model laser I have has a snap style mount that has no screws to tighten.
It would suck not to use it, the bullet hits the dot EVERY time I pull the trigger, IT'S GREAT, but it also makes it jam once or twice per mag. without the laser ZERO jams for hundreds of rounds!
I have tried a couple brands of ammo for the smae result....This sucks!!! Payed more for the laser/flashlight combo than I did for the pistol!
Thank You very much for the response!0 -

Looks like we found the problem.0 -
Ok.....I got a hell of a deal for this pistol, it is not a POS! A good deal made it cheaper than the laser!
second, I didnt nosedive the pistol.... the rounds nose dive in the mag!!!
third....it shoots just fine without the damn laser on it!!
I was just wondering if any one else had THIS problem with THIS laser on THIS pistol!

I thank you for any serious comments!0 -
I think you have a magazine problem that just happened to show up at same time you installed lazer. Did you go back and remove the lazer and test again. [?][?][?] 0 -
yes, I remove the laser and the pistol works fine. Put the laser on and it starts jamming!
With the laser it hits the mark every round but jams!
Makes nice 2 inch groups at 15 yards with the laser.
I have tried 230 grain ball FMJ, 230 grain HP, 200 HP, all with the same result!
And four different brands!
Emailed Taurus and so far na response!
Thank you!0 -
I don't own any pistols with a Rail but have shot many semi auto pistols for many years . I cant for the life of me figure how a Lazer that is on snap mount can affect a Magazine Unless the frame is warping which in turn warps the magazine .Have you tried to hand cycle the slide without pulling the trigger to see if the pistol will cycle all the ammo in the magazine[?] I think you need a GOOD pistol smith that can trouble shoot at a range. 0 -
This is a problem with some pistols. I have heard and seen it be a problem when putting the M6 on the Glock 34/35. On my G35 (.40 cal) many people I let shoot it with the M6 on will get jambs where the action does not close all the way. I have not had a problem with it.
When I was testing a subsonic load for my G34 if I had the M6 and/or the 33rd mag in the gun it would fail to cycle (dont recall the problem). If I took the M6 off and used a standard mag it would cycle sometimes. Of course after some further load testing I found a load that will cycle with M6/33rd mag/silencer on the gun but it is a different load then I can use with my other suppressed 9mm's.
So I dont know why it happens but it does happen with some combos. That is why you test this stuff before you might actually need it.0 -
The pistol cycles by hand just fine.
I have no doubt that it is the laser flexing the plastic frame under recoil. (this is my first polymer frame pistol and it looks like it will be the last!)This, in turn allows the slide to go higher, just enough to tip the next round enough to catch the edge below the feed ramp, which then holds the point of the round while the mag spring continues to exert pressure on the rear of the round, thus "nose diveing" it into the mag.
Tried new Mag, streching the spring, (ie more pressure), shorter OAL, all to no effect!
The jam is easy to clear, just pull the slide back 1/8 inch and the mag spring pops the round up into proper place. Really weird!
I havent tried stoneing the bottom edge of the feed ramp yet due to the taurus warrenty might be voided if I do.
Thank you
The laser weighs 4.4 oz. You wouldn't think that as a lot, but thats whats doing it!
