Milled AK-47 Pistols?

I can't comment on the quality of these.

Bit I do question the necessity of a milled receiver in this application. Why add the extra weight?

In terms of accuracy, is that even really a factor at all? This isn't exactly a "match pistol" we're talking about.

In general, I think of these pistol AKs as more novelties than anything else.

I think one could make a reasonably good substitute for a submachine gun, if you were able to put a folding stock on it (or even better, stock + select fire), but the first thing makes it an NFA gun, and the second illegal.

Good valid points and well taken, concerning the weight of the weapon being milled that is somewhat of a moot point stamped vs. milled although I do prefer the weight as it doesn't bother me and would make the weapon in my opinion to be a bit more controllable.
No, I realize that these weapons were never meant to be "match" pistols or anything like that more like 'spray and pray', but at close range for some limited suppressive fire in a very small weapon that utilizes a rifle round under control it might be a good close quarters weapon.
You are correct that the AK Pistols and such are more of a novelty, but with a sort-of "coolness" factor like with the MPA 10 and 30, just lead slingers, not a necessity really or anything, but definitely hoots to shoot.
As a substitute for the use of a semi-subgun they might work out okay thats true, but the ability of having the stock on it and such would be more effective and controllable, however I don't particularly like dealing with the NFA thing if I don't have to or can find a good alternative.

Any better suggestions for a rifle round in a semi-subgun, would consider pistol round carbines as well like a Russian PPS-43 7.62x25mm, is military gun supply good to deal with?
Or another pistol round carbine that may be a good alternative might be a Norinco made UZI 9x19mm?

How about the H&K MP5 in 10MM Auto? that is about is as good as it gets.

As far as the milled reciever AK's go, I have shot a stamped AK, genuine Krinkov...when I say genuine, I do mean select fire. I am glad it had the side folding butt stock, to help hold it down. As far as a mid range rifle round for short range suppressive fire...in full auto, yes, but semi auto...you are just fooling yourself. But I guess it would be better than a knife.

That's a good idea, as 10mm would make a good alternative, however a semi-auto weapon while not the effect of the pray and spray full auto lead thrower of select fire is very capable in the 'right' hands as I have 'fired a couple rounds' full auto and such in the military and elsewhere...
Although full auto is preferred I am just not that interested in it and don't care to deal with the JBT nonsense and such of owning them and can make due just fine with semi-auto if necessary...
I wasn't aware of an HKMP5 10mm, looked like it was full auto only, however a semi-auto version would be nice, must have a heck of a price tag though as they usually do.
A Zastava M92 Krinkov might be a possible viable solution as well.

Now we're getting off topic. . .(but what the heck).

Obviously there are better and more refined submachine guns out there than a miniaturized AK. But the point of the AK-pistol submachine gun is that:

    a. Gun itself is cheap, reliable, and easy to maintain, with some parts compatibility with readily available AK parts and similar manual of arms.
    b. It uses cheap ammo, which is globally available.
    c. It uses cheap and readily available magazines, that interchange with your rifle.

You might think of this as a sort of modern logical reversal of the older cowboy lever action rifles that use pistol ammo. Instead of a pistol caliber rifle, we have a rifle caliber pistol.

Sure a 10mm MP5 will run smoother, but the gun itself costs 6x as much, the ammo costs 5x as much, and the parts cost 5x as much.

Not incidentally, the 8" barreled AK pistol will spit out a 122 grain .31 caliber round at 1950fps This compares pretty nicely, say to a 125 grain .357 magnum round from an 18" barreled carbine at 2000fps. You're effectively blowing away the ballistics of any common pistol round here, let alone one that only costs $0.20 per round.

The MP5/10 uses a 9" bbl and spits out a typical 165 grain 10mm round at 1380 fps. Its not really clear to me that this is any better ballistically.

Lastly, you can partially emulate the effect of a shoulder stock (legally) by bracing the gun forward against a single point sling looped around the firing shoulder.

    Edit: Responding to below.

If you just want a small centerfire gun with a super high capacity, there are all kinds of ways to cram 30 or even 50 9mm luger rounds into something pistol-sized. EG: Glock with 33 round stick mags, Uzi pistol, any of the crappy "Gangsta" 9mm pistols (Tec9), etc, etc.

But again, without a stock or select fire, I see little point to going this route. I guess with one of these gimped subguns you would get decreased recoil over a conventional pistol, but at the (in my opinion significant) cost of less accuracy, more weight and bulk. IMO, for the same weight, you're probably better off just carrying two ordinary pistols!

Alternatively, if you're just after something small and light, but with considerable firepower, you might want to check out the Kel-Tec Sub 2000 carbine. This thing weighs under 5 lbs (unloaded), folds into a really small package that will easily fit in any backpack or even under a coat, and will take the 33 round Glock mags. Downsides are poor trigger, and scarcity. . .they're in demand enough that they usually sell for more than list, if you can find one.

If you don't like 9mm luger, these are available in 40SW, too.

Yeah I saw that too that it went off topic a bit, but whatever as I don't mind the HKMP5 10mm idea and I have considered it and like the 10mm in a pistol and at close quarters in a semi-subgun it has its merits.
The Zastava M92 I have considered before I posted as I am aware of its quality, but was the milled Lancaster AK47 pistol that I was not, although I haven't found anything negative besides the normal I hate these or those opinions which are more or less useless, but that's normal for any brand.
I know a few guys that sling there guns that way and its not a bad technique, although I don't do it.
Apparently then the best alternative would be the M92 along with an M4 and is as small as I am going to be able to get with a buttstock without going to an NFA SBR, I think that would probably work better than an AK pistol, thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, I am not into the 'weird al yankovic-I'm a wigga' gangsta sideways gun crap either. They do look pretty stupid with their gold tooth, low slung pants and sideways hat and other nonsense not to mention their ignorant form of communication.
And they cant fight worth a crap either and even though they will often try and make an attempt and pull that "well I'm a mma-ultimatefakefighting-championwarrior-gangsta" crap too...
    LOL, Roll Eyes...

Anyway, the smallest of that type that I would use would be an AK pistol, but I would like a stock on it without the SBR status and is why I was considering the M92 and the M4 was just a compliment to it is all being of a similar size.
I have never really got into the whole Keltec thing although they are an interesting concept however and I will have to look into them.
    Thanks.

Seems the Draco pistol has quite the following. Guns are all Romanian as 922r doesn't apply to pistols.

Lots of people getting stamps for them and building rifles out of them too.

I seem to recall reading that the rear trunion on the Draco is actually a Underfolding Trunion.
