.32 HR Mag
Can the Ruger Blackhawk .32 HR Mag cylinder be reamed out to handle the .327 cartridge?

I would see no reason that a blackhawk could not be reamed to 327. I have an eight shot blackhawk in 327. However, I would not want to try it with a single-six. 0 -
Uh, what?
Any .327 Magnum gun can fire .32 H&R, .32 Long or .32 short.
I think the issue is length of cartridge, as in .357 Mag. and 38 Spl.
Ruger is already coming out with a .327 Blackhawk.
Unless you have a reamer that stretches cylinders, and frames, what are you talking about?0 -
In short, the Ruger 32H&R Magnum is made on the smaller frame Single Six action, as the New 327's are made on the larger Blackhawk Frame. I am sure if Ruger thought they could get away with it, they would have chambered the SingleSix in 327 Federal Magnum, instead of tooling up for the Blackhawk.

Ruger did make a limited run of Blackhawks with cylinders for .32 Mag. and .32-20. 0 -
Ambrose; that is the one I am talking about. That is what I have, and am wondering if it can be reamed for the 327 cartridge. Why buy another one if this one can be re-chambered?

Devil Dog,
The Ruger Blackhawk in .32HR is somewhat rare and a very nice piece, however I would not have the cylinder reamed to .327 from .32HR being that the cup pressure of the .327 is roughly twice that of the .32HR and would find a Ruger cylinder specifically made to handle the .327. It also wouldn't hurt to discuss this with a good and competent gunsmith as I always do when I come up with a project such as this even though it seems to be a pretty basic concept, a good and competent gunsmith can be a treasure trove of ideas and safety as well.
