Need military wrench ID
I collect old and odd tools.I bought a wrench at the flea market last Sunday. It is a PROTO open end wrench 1-5/16 by 1-3/8.It is very thin and appears to be a stamping and not a forging. It is model # AN-8503-17.People on the old tool forum I belong to say it is a military contrat tool and the AN stands for Army/Navy.I know during WWII the PLOMB tool company now known as PROTO was a major tool supplier for the miltary. The PLOMB/PROTO WWII tools had their own set of parts numbers for military contrat tools. The part number always started with WF (WRIGHT FIELD). PLOMB tools changed their name to PROTO in 1949 due to a lawsuit loss with the other PLUMB tool company.---Help---

I think this may be a contract wrench for IBM service rep from the 1960's I will have to look through my old C.E, Tool KIT we had a bunch of VERY thin open end wrenches when we worked on Mechanical data processing equipment that used PUNCH CARDS sorters, Tab machines, collaters, interpreter, ETC many of these special tools were made by PROTO.. 0 -
Sounds interesting, post some pics.. 0 -

It is a wrench for flexiably tubing fittings. AN was the old name for this type of fitting. {Army/navy}. Here is the new version of them.

designed to get into tight spaces where lines screwed into pumps, cylinders, ect. Extra thin allowed use of two wrenches , one holds the fitting, one unscrews the hose end. Bob0
