took a vacation day next wednesday for our season opener
going after that big 8 I posted but if a doe come close enough ya never know the arrows may fly[;)][:D]0 -
weare shooting does this year and canning al we can after last year and all the cold we had im not going to go hungary... 0 -
Here is the first doe of the year. I first saw her at 5:10 pm. She was about 70 yards away eating horse weeds by the river. She started my way across the crp ground. My wind was blowing right at her. She enteren the finger I was in at the worst place for me.
She was at 10 yards and I had no shot because of the tv tower that I use for the ladder for the stand.
She took a couple of steps and caught a scent of me because she stooped down like she was ready to take off.
She didn't, and took a few more steps.
That's when I drew back. She was less that 10 FEET when I put the sight between her shoulder and squeezed the trigger.
Spined her. The knock was barely visible and I had 6 inches sticking out the bottom. Dropped her right there.
It was 5:20 pm. She weighed in at 130 pounds dressed.
The pic isn't the best. I will have field shots later.

HA ha. I had a photobucket mess up. That is Edgecams deer. But yes, I'm still shooting my TomKat and still loving it.0 -

Shot this one at around 4 tonight. She walked right behind me. Shot her at around 5 yards. She jumped the river and ran up the hill.
She stood there for a minute then fell over dead. Didn't run over 50 yards.
Double lung and heart. Did have to get my son and hip boots to get her back on my side and to get my arrow. It did a pass thru and buried in the river bed.
