S&W Serial Numbers
I just bought a J frame revolver and it looks like the serial number is laser etched into the frame. If so, can it be raised if it gets mutiliated or ground off?

Few guns have stamped serial numbers anymore. Most numbers are laser etched. Plastic guns even have their numbers on little metal tags attached to the frame. I seriously doubt that, if such a serial number is obliterated, it can be raised again using the traditional method. 0
