Un-Quality m1 carbine (what's it worth)
I came across a un-qualtiy m1 carbine that I was wanting to throw on auction but I'm not sure of the value. Inland bbl made 3-44 w/ an I stock marked RMC. This rifle is an 95% condition w/ just a few minor scratches in the wood. Everything appears to be correct but I really don't know what I'm looking for. If you could help out on a value and maybe a short list of things I should describe on the auction description.
Thanks

As you say, you really don't know what you are looking for.
You could just do what most folks do, & post a few bad photos & hope for the best.
Or, you could buy a copy of US M1 Carbines, Wartime Production by Craig Riesch, & learn what all the parts are & how to identify them as original or replacement. Then, you could post quality pictures of all the parts & markings, & maximize your return on the auction.
Your stock could be original, refinished, or a fake, I just can't tell without seeing it.
The nice thing about an auction is, you don't have to know what your gun is worth; the bidders will let you know that.

One more item..you definately will be using photos during the auction process.
After you take the photos, and prior to posting them on the auction, how 'bout you give us a sneak-preview?
Voila! Instant evaluation! Best, Joe0 -
I think CMP auctioned some Un-Quality carbines off, check their auctions out and see what they went for. As the other posters stated getting all the info on the part numbers to evaluate how original the rife is determins the price and getting all the part numbers off your rifle is the only way to detemine this.

Quality Hardware carbines, and Un-Qualities in particular, throw beginning collectors because literally every part (except for the receiver on a QHMC vs. an Un-Quality) was made by subcontractors. FNGs think that they are mixmasters. An original Un-Q is quite a find so I would urge you to carefully examine the carbine with Riesch's book in hand to see if it checks out. I hope that it's a real one and good luck with your auction. 0 -
Hello, I am an avid M1 carbine collector. Would be glad to assist if possble. If you can take some macro photos of the rear sight area, barrel band, front sight, acceptance stamp on the right side of the stock, and RMC markings in the sling well, I should be able to help. Please email photos to cbarn450@aol.com

Hell just put it on the auction side and see what it brings. 0
