    Welcome here to Gunbroker. Been some years but we sold quite a few mounted heads on the auctions and all went good. Wrapping and boxing them was quite a challenge but never had any problems. We were stumped once on getting a small shark ready for shipping so we had one of those ups stores box it for us and it went great. Started most for a very low price (.99 or 9.99)and they all seemed to bring a fair price in the end. Always go a little overboard on the wrapping to prevent chance of damages. Looks like you landed some real nice mounts so good luck.

    I'm not sure how this may affect anything you bought or plan to sell, but in California it is my understanding it is illegal to sell any bear parts.

    I found this website. http://www.chichesterinc.com/BearStateRegulations.htm
    Looks like your right. No sales of black bear in California. Looks like I will have to keep those for myself. Oh Darn!

    I have a local shipping company that said they would crate it all, and insure it if I was to ship. My big thing is we are wanting to flip the house. I don't have time to spend 6 months trying to sell this stuff. If I don't get an offer in the next two weeks, we'll just toss it all. Can't hold up a $400,000 house sale for $10,000 in taxidermy.

    +1 on Bass Pro since there is one just outside of Manteca. You also could donate the deer, elk and other animals to a museum and take a tax write off. If you really want to move them and make some cash just list them right on gunbroker in the taxidermy section--start them at a penny with NO reserve and run a 5 day auction--I can almost guarantee you will sell all of it--except for the ones that were bones only--doubt you will get a ton out of those and wouldn't waste my time with them. The elk should be easy $400-$500. Since you don't have tons of time I wouldn't waste it on the raccoon, badger & other stuff that isn't a head mount or body mount. The full body mount animals depending on what they are should bring at least $300(not including bears as those would be over $1000 and you can't sell those anyway)--again going off of you gotta sell it now prices-not what you could get if you had time.

    You might also see if the various Mule Deer & Elk Foundations would want the mounts. If you do sell them on gunbroker don't forget to post a shameless plug link to them in the general side-you will get a lot more bidders. Sell the heads as is with no returns too[;)]

    Many antique stores and bars also would snatch the elk, boar and the bigger mule deer mounts up in a second-especially the country western bars so might want to try that if you have time-- Too bad you're not down near San Juan Capistrano-there's a few huge antique stores that buy up lots of taxidermy.

    Or just make sure they get sold outside of the State of California.

    After all, if in its infinite wisdom the bankrupt State of California doesn't want to generate any tax revenues from the sale of already dead and mounted Bear parts (which were likely taken outside the State of CA years ago anyway), well, who are you to say different?

    On the rest of it, I can't give you specific values, but some of it looks pretty nice, and I personally would bid on at least a few pieces if auctioned here (especially the skulls). Please don't just toss it!

    I agree with Ruger that you'd almost definitely sell every single piece if you simply took good pictures, and listed them all starting at one cent (ie true auctions). The hardest part, actually probably is going to be packing them up and shipping them, not selling them.

    Of course, no one can say anything if you gift bear parts to someone. I know there are hunters who give the teeth and claws of bears they take to Native Americans who use them in their ceremonies. They just don't sell them.

    Man o' man....those muley's are some true big'uns. Don't toss that stuff, please!. Put it on auction if you can and let folks buy it. Charge $100+ plus actual for shipping and handling. Go down to the local Home depot and I'm sure you can find some willing help outside... {Carlos Mencia...but he's right}

    At the very least post 'em up one last time, even for the bone stuff. I have a contact at more than a few educational type places (and one museum) that may have an interest... if you end up donating them have them appraised first and use as a tax write off.
