Most of the devices during WWII were sterling and I believe that during the fifties plated base metal use began. 0 -
I bought sterling silver jump wings for my uniform in 1983. The one I was issued in 1981 was plated. You can still buy sterling silver jump wings today. A lot more expensive than when I paid about $9.00 for mine. From what I understand they were issuing plated jump wings from somewhere in the mid-sixties. There is no way to really date it.

So were mine, U.S. and German. But are/were yours plated or silver? And, what date range?0
