Striker 12 GA

I have a Striker 12 GA 18" barrel shotgun, purchased in 1989, that has never been fired, never even been loaded. (Can a 21 year old weapon be brand new?) I still have the sales receipt and manual, but stupidly threw the box away 21 years ago.

I am ready to get rid of it for something a little less flashy. I plan on taking it to a gun show in the near future to see what I can get. What would be a realistic price for a gun dealer to pay so that he can make a profit, but without me getting badly taken advantage of?

    You've got some potential problems: First off the Strikers and Streetsweepers were declared to be Destructive Devices and needed to be registered. Has your gun been registered and do you have the paperwork in your hands? If the answer is yes then we can proceed. If the answer is no then you may want to abandon the thread and let sleeping dogs lie.

    At any rate; the gun can be displayed at the show but cannot be legally sold at a gun show to anyone.

    Yes it is registered.

    I was told a class 3 dealer could buy it.

    Okay, you need to understand that we have to be careful here and be sure that everything is on the up and up...For your sake as well as our own.

    A Destructive Device dealer can buy it but you chances of running into one of those guys at a local show are pretty slim. Your best bet is to do a online search for Class 3 dealers and just talk to a few to see what kind of price they are willing to pay. I see guys here listing Strikers on auction in the $1500 to $2000 range but they never sell at those prices and no dealer will pay you that much. Even going to a dealer there is paperwork involved with the transfer so no matter who the buyer is, keep in mind that you cannot simply hand over the gun without BATFE approval.
