Mag Mfg'r
Does anyone here know the actual Mfg'r firm that makes the Chip McCormick Mags? Looking for a Mfg'r that makes a very consistent product for OEM use. Normal "low end" Mfg'r will not do for this project, need the best.

Bill Wilson mags are the best you can buy. Mine are about 25yrs. old and still going strong. His new ones are better yet.
I have some of Chips mags and rate them right up there with Wilsons [;)]0 -

MEC-GAR makes many of the various factory mags for the companies. 0 -
Givette, don't know where you are coming from, I said I wanted the best for OEM use in volume, not cheap.
I consider Wilson and McCommick to be the best in my shooting realm, but I need an actual Mfg'r, not a dist. This is for an OEM special project that requires design and build capability. Problem in finding the actual Mfg'r is that most are just distributors and can't design and make a magazine.
The project is for a high end gun, so I want the best. Just have had a little problem finding the best.
BTW - as DC recommended, I have contacted Wilson and they do design and build, but I'd like a few options more if possible.0 -

Okay. Cost not a factor. Now, OEM..(item in blue, above), any reason why you can't contact the firearm manufacturer, and place an order for the magazines that they include with the gun? Can't get more OEM than that!
If you skip the word 'project' and tell us what gun is involved, you'll get many hits on the correct magazines as issued by gun factory. Just a thought. Joe

Now I get the picture! (Ref: your post below).
Metalform supplies to Colt. If you contact them (or others) that this forum is directing you to vis-a-vis high quality, you'll be good to go. See if they will stamp whatever company logo you will be using on the bottom plate (will probably require a bulk order, though). Good Luck!0 -
Colt gets magazines from Metalform.
And I have a couple of older Ed Browns that sure look like Metalform.
Checkmate has a following for their "hybrid" lips.
I don't know if Tripp makes their own Cobramags or not, but they are a good part.
I don't know who makes McCormicks. Their Shooting Stars are pretty generic and could come from about anyplace, but the Power Mags are a distinctive design.0 -
Givett: The gun does not yet exist in the market. So there is no existing magazine. As I stated, it is a project that I hope comes to market in the next 1-1/2 years.
As well as being a shooter, I do also make several plastic parts for guns and stun guns. Although I have tried to talk this owner into a plastic magazine (which I believe is the best method if done correctly), he wishes to stay with steel. He asked me to make a recommendation of a "good" producer of steel mags since he has only found some of the "cheapies". Further, since this is his first semi-auto, I don't think (IMHO) he realizes the importance of a consistent, high quality mag for this gun, and needs to work with true experts on this part of the project. I don't have any contacts for metal mags, and many on this board work for gun manufacturers, so I was hoping to get some good input.
