Lathe and mill

Looks like I will be needing a good, used lathe and mill. I will be opening my own shop in a couple of months.

If any of you have an in where to get one please let me know. I don't need the best, but just a good "starter.

    The best suggestion i can give you is check your local newspaper in th business section for up comming industrial auctions in your area or email me for a listing of industrial auctions.

    Buddy picked up a clean and tight lathe and mill (clones) along with a lot of tooling last summer for $4500. He either bought 5K worth of tooling and got the machines thrown in or he bought 5K worth of machinery and got the tooling for free (your choice)
    He found them on C-List and had to rent a truck and spend a day driving to get them back home.

    Check all the auctions and put out feelers in all directions. In a high population area (maybe any area) 'want ads' can work. Few years back (Long Island NY) I put a newspaper ad wanting a lathe. Got seven replies. I bought three of them because the deals were so good. Sold off two at good profit and kept the best - a Logan quick change with big spindle hole plus a huge amount of tools and attachments.

    I know where two mills are in Yucca Valley,CA. Cheap, the catch is, you have to pick em up.
