I dont know anything about guns trying to find out for a friend he has 38 special made in brazil (rossey made interarms alexandria va)

    I don't do private e-mails, if you want an answer to the questions you ask in the forums you'll have to come back to the forum to learn the answer. Since you say that it is a "gray" five shot, .38 imported by Interarms I am guessing that it is actually the stainless Rossi Model 84, although it might be a Model 68. In either case these are not worth a whole lot of money, maybe $175 or so in nice shape. Since you are keeping the condition of your pistol a secret from us it could be worth as little as $75 if it is beat up.

    Not many are worth more than $150.

    Rossi revolvers were made in substantial numbers, and imported into the U.S. for years. Many of them turn up on the on-line gun auctions. Check the actual selling prices to get a ballpark value on the one your friend has. I believe Mark is right on as far as value is concerned though, even new Rossi 5 shot .38's were never big buck items.

    I wouldn't offer more than $100. Actually I wouldn't offer anything. There are lots of good used older model Colts S&Ws Rugers in 38 or 357 for not much more and you'll have a quality piece.

    fallsparky.......If he gets more that $100 in this down market for a 20yr old Rossi, he is doing well. Having said that, I have several Rossi's (Models 68, 971, etc), and like them. Keep one on my workbench to scare aware critters. But they are what they are...cheap copies of Smith's and not near as good. Good luck[^]

    A Rossi 38 special recently sold for $200 at a local auction in my area, but it was in near mint condition. A Smith & Wesson 38 special went for $375 at the same auction and it was in less than mint, but still decent condition.
