Gun sale on auction
What is the legal procedures for selling a 1911 pistol on auction - to be sold in lower 48 only? As an individual seller (non-FFL) do I locate a local FFL to ship it to the buyer's FFL? I'm located in Texas; if I sell within Texas are the procedures different than to another state? As far as packing/shipping, is the hard-side (plastic)manufactor's case wrapped inside heavy cardboard ok? From looking around here either UPS or Fed-Ex are the carriers to be used? Thanks in advance for your advice and replies. ~Bill

It will be cheaper for you to ship the gun if you have a friendly relationship with a FFL dealer. He can ship thru the post office for about $11 plus insurance,(plus whatever his service fee is) whereas, you as an individual must ship UPS or FEDEX next day air, which will run you close to $70.00! If you will go thru a dealer, get a flat rate priority mail shipping box from the post office, get it all labeled and ready to go, bring it to your dealer and he can get it shipped for you. 0
