Any FFL dealer can make an "occasional" import for the purposes of resale, the trick is finding one that wants to do it. No firearm enters the United States commercially unless it is on an approved BTFE Form 6 and while there is no charge for the dealer/importer to file the form, Don't expect him to do it for you for free. Beyond that you have the usual customs fees and duties and of course the firearm has to be engraved/stamped with the name of the importer. Dealers have approval times of 6 to 8 weeks while registered importers have approval times well under half that length. Licensed importers typically charge fees in the $200 range, plus taxes, fees so what ever you want to bring in it needs to be worth spending that kind of scratch. In theory any person, licensed or not, can file a BATFE Form 6, but results by non licensees range from total failure to legendary waits followed by the form being denied out of hand. 0 -
thanks mark,
it's a 4" stainless python i bought in canada for $850US. well worth the import fees, i think.[;)]
last time i did a canada buy was 6 or 7 yrs ago and my FFL handled it all. he's since retired.
thanks
