    It would be really beneficial IMHO if you can positively document that Chow did the work.

    The purple cast on the slide due to refinishing has a tendency to turn folks off though. Although it's only a cosmetic thing, it makes the Colt look "funny", definitely not factory. This is where the documentation of Chow's work would make so much difference.

    It functions well with both. Fedral Match 185 and 230 both work great.

    It is a TRUE chow pistol. With all the proper markings under the slide , bushing and barrel. Chow replaced the sight and had to refiish the slide. If You leave it in the tank a little too long it will turn a little purple.

    Hello I am a Bulls-Eye shooter Camp Perry 1972-2005 But I also Collect older Bulls Eye Pistols from the Old Pistol-Smith masters . I mostly collect East cost built Guns. Bob Chow was west coast & among a handful of the Best. The pistol in the picture . Does look Like it was built by a skilled smith [:)] However It could have been built 50 years ago and without knowing its History and it's internal condition it would be VERY hard to set a Price. Most New N.R.A. Match shooters now use Red Dot sights. This would most likely involve Mounting a red dot on a slide mount or Frame mount . Both will have a negative impact on any collector value of this pistol . You could use the Pistol AS IS for Hard Ball . However then you would have to find out what kind of groups it will shoot and any parts replaced would again kill collector interest.Please DO NOT shoot this pistol with any more 230 grain Bullets until you CHANGE out the recoil spring. If the gun will function with 185gn target loads then the spring is too light to keep the pistol slide and frame from being BEAT UP with 230 grain loads. I buy and sell 1911 Target pistols as well as collect . However I don't sell any unless the shooter has a chance to shoot the gun first and see how it shoots from Ransom rest. Like custom / race cars the money spent to build a pistol or Car will not increase the Value except to a very few people and then only if you can drive/shoot the Item.
