I have a Walther PP 9mm Kurz and I am having trouble finding the date it was made. SN#62394A

    I just received a Walther PP from a family member. He found it on a German officer who was "in no shape to prevent him from taking it" (WW2). Apparently it is the "rare" pre-WWII model with the bottom magazine release. Just wondering how much its actually worth.

    That is a very rare variation and not often seen. You need to give us at least some kind of very basic information like the caliber and maybe just a hint about what kind of condition the pistol is in. A .380 is going to be worth a lot more than a .32 and in either case a pistol in excellent condition will be worth double the value of an example in average shape.

    whitecap....welcome to the GB Forum! We can help you but will need closeup clear photos to really pin down what you have. Without those, we are just "shooting[;)]in the dark." If you can't do photos go over the pistol with a glass and tell us about every mark you see on it. Give us an idea as to condition. What about the magazines...do they have the Walther banner on them? What caliber? Does the safety rotate? Holster? Marks on it? Any and all info you can give us will help with value[^].

    its a .380, good condition... not many rounds through it. just some wear from the old leather holster.

    The magazines hold 7, have the walther banner. It has an old leather holster that holds an extra mag. Safety rotates 90 degrees, Magazine release is on the bottom, it says Waffenfathrik Walther, Zella Metills(thur) Mod. PP, 6 digit serial number with a P on the end. Minor blueing wear from holster.

    Without photos to guide us I'd say around $1300, maybe $1500 if it is really nice. A few years ago when buyers actually has some money in their pockets you'd be looking closer to $2K, but those days are gone.

    Ditto! Mark has it about right. Being a .380 it is a neat and rather rare caliber as most are .32's and it is very collectible. It is a down market right now so is not the time to sell although this sounds like a family heirloom and certainly worth keeping. It should do nothing but appreciate in the future.[^]
