336 marlin scope mount screw size?

hello-can anyone tell me the size of and the number of threads per inch of the holes on the top of marlin 336 recievers? want to get some plug screws for mine,thanks

    Unless they've changed, it should be 6-48.

    thanks for the info but a 6-48 seem way to small,6-48 fits in the holes for the peep sights that go on the side,i am working on the holes where the scope mount go's..............they appear to be number 8 screws but am unsure of number of threads

    If they are bigger than 6;s they will be 8-40. I too had one in the shop the other day that had 8-40's in it.

    Well, this brings up a couple questions I now have.
    Were all the 336's 8-40?
    What year did they start to D&T the 336?
