Which .22 Rifle had a built in sling??
For the life of me, I can not remember the make and model of a .22 rifle that had a sling built in the stock. It pulled out and latched on the front of the stock. Anyone remember?

The one I recall was a J.C. Higgins - Sears' house brand made for them by High Standard. Strange, it was exclusive for Sears, they did not have the retractable sling under their own name. I do not remember the model number and do not have the Numrich print catalog to look it up in. 0 -

The Sears J. C. Higgins Model 30 was the first Sears rifle to have this sling but when the Model 31 superseded the Model 30 it also had that sling. Note that there were four variations each for both the Model 30 and Model 31. Not all versions had this feature.

Romec Co., Inc. of Harris, New York was advertising a similar sling in the 1949/1950 time frame as the Romec disappearing gun sling for $7.00 - $9.50 installed at the factory.
The Sears rim fire rifles that High Standard made for Sears were commissioned by Sears and the design development, and tooling were paid for by Sears with the results that Sears had an exclusive right to these guns. High Standard had not previously had a .22 rifle and did not sell .22 rifles until 1960 when the began selling their own version of the then relatively new Sears J. C. Higgins Model 25 semi-auto. In 1963 they began selling a version of the Sears Model 35 pump action rifle . By the time that High Standard was allowed to sell the Rifles they designed for Sears, the retractable sling wan no longer being used By Sears.0 -

Another little piece of trivia, the sling was made for shooting only and not for carrying the rifle. 0
