1 st post and questions of some Third Reich Books
Hi all
This is my first post here and I have some questions about some Third Reich propaganda books that I am in possession of ..
All of the books are the real deal and I would like to know what they are worth .I collect WW2 Axis weapons not documents.Being a re-enactor as well ,the monies from the sale would go towards a SSR BFONG ,(if I can ever find one)
I am trying to word this right as I understand there are no for sale ads..
As I dont know how to put up pictures here yet (if I even can ,I dont know ) Here is a detailed list of the books that I have ..
The books are titled "Deutschland Erwache " Germany Awakened
The brown book with the gold lettering ,which I consider the best of shape.
The 2nd book is "Adolf Hitler " which seems to a documentary of his rise to power.
Sadly the spine of the book has some damage .But Other than that it is in great shape
The 3 rd book is a soft cover book which kind of translates to " weapons of foreign countries " .Most of the tannks and panes that you will see pictured are from the first WW and leads me to think this book was post 1933 (as the first page has a forward by Chancellor Hitler ,but doesnt have many of the WW2 weapons that we commonly know .That is the grey book with the battle ship on the front .
The last book is "Auf Deutsche Scholle " Im not quite sure what "scholle means ( my German isnt the best ) ,But this is a book that seems to describe German-Aryan types .Different parts of the countries heritage from north to south ..
Those pics in the book are NOT printed in the book .The books "Germany Awake and Hitler " have what to seem to be gloss type photos .The other 2 books are also non gloss color inserts ..
There are no rips in any of the pages .ALL of the pages are there and IMHO aside from the spine damage that I mentioned ,ALL of the books are in great shape ..
Now comes the crazy part ..Does anyone know what these books are worth ? I am a WW2 weapons collector ,not really big on the document end of things ,so I am really considering selling them ..But could use any advice on the value of the books as well .

The books have value and do trade quite frequently, however you much remember that hundreds of thousands of copies existed at one time and a great many still do.
While eBay has an unreasonable
prohibition against Nazi regalia, there is none on books and coins, so that might be a better place to get a feel for the market.
Bear in mind that unless you sell them at retail yourself, you will not realize the final bid prices.0 -

I am not an expert German translator nor do I collect but using several translators, I think your idea about what this book is about, is certainly correct. Apparently it is a description of the types of Aryan peoples.
scholle = clod, ice floe, plaice
plaice = types of flatfish, ie. European flounder.
As to your dilemma, I suggest using the services of real book collectors who are experts in Nazi literature. Our membership has an extremely broad base of expertise and knowledge but I don't recall anyone acknowledging Nazi literature as a niche. I could be wrong and hopefully so. Let's wait and see...
Books which used photographs and offset prints inserted into books are considered to be more valuable than those in which the photographs are reproduced with the context of the printing. One of these processes is referred to as 'tipping in' the pictures or photographs.

I believe in this case 'auf deutsche scholle' translates into 'on german soil'.
Trying to translate a single word without taking it into context sometimes makes a difference.0
