.22 High Standard Revolver
I recently bought a High Standard Sentinel Deluxe 22LR Revolver. The nine shot double action model 106. The first shot can be fired by pulling the trigger or cocking the hammer and pulling, but then it locks up and the cylinder won't turn. It's like the trigger doesn't reset. Anyone have a fix for this problem. First time on this Forum so if I am in the wrong area or approaching this wrong please direct/correct me.

It may just need a good cleaning or may need a trigger return spring. You can get one here for $3.55 (Part #385350A):

It did need a good cleaning and that was the first thing I did. After the problem started I broke it into the four main groups and started looking for a problem. It is not the model pictured. I did not tear down the trigger assembly. This is the location for it's diagram http://armattweb.com/hs/ and the part number 7270 is the trigger spring but the part 7158 the cylinder stop spring doesn't look right to me. Could that cause the problem? THKS

For the cheap price of the springs, it couldn't hurt to replace them both but maybe someone else can suggest another fix.

You are right I have decided to just replace all of the springs while I have it torn down, but I would like to find out if anyone else as had and fixed the same problem so I can order other parts at the same time if I need to. Thanks for the spinning globe.

The revolver pictured is the Dan Wesson-made centerfire Sentinel.
I had a bad experience with GunParts and Sentinel parts. I bought an old Sentinel missing the extractor springs that go in the cylinder on the later models with the spring-loaded extractor. The parts I received were just cut off of spring stock and would not even go into their positions. Rather than fight with them and waste more time than the parts were worth, I just "ate" the incorrect parts. I ended up buying a complete cylinder to get the necessary springs. That is not the first time GunParts has delivered the wrong parts.
Springs on these Sentinels do not "wear" out. They are usually either lost or damaged from improper disassembly or assembly. The trigger return spring is a "mousetrap" style spring. It sounds like the trigger return spring is either broken, missing or installed incorrectly. I suspect one of the last two possibilities.
Take the gun apart and check the status of the trigger return spring.0 -
sounds like you may be on the right track, it probably needs a very good cleaning and lube job and it's always a good idea to give it a tune up if you can get the correct springs and have the know how to fit the new parts to your revolver, make sure you inspect all parts well as I've seen a pin already cause faults so all parts need to be in good condition and most times it's just a weak or wrong spring. 0 -
I know this was some time back but I wanted to post a follow up.
Once I located the correct diagram for this model I found the following problems. This purchase had no hammer safety stop, one of two hand springs was gone, the other was badly bent, the trigger spring pin was missing and the cylinder stop spring was bent.
I found an bought a complete set of new springs and pins and when I compared the diagram and parts to what I had received I could not believe it.
It works great now, my wife loves to shoot it.
