Hi shanley---Just a couple of other pieces of advise. Feel free to check with your local fire marshall, BUT do not put your safe in a basement, they fill up with water when the fire dept. get's to work. DO put your safe on an outside wall, preferably in the garage, on the wall farthest from the house. If you look at a burned house, the inside of the house is the most severely damaged, while the outside walls may still be standing. I agree totally with savage---Get a big one!!!! HAWKSHAW 0 -
I have 3 large safes and 1 midsize, Patriot safes work very well. Place hockypucks under the four corners to keep off of ground, Use a goldenrod for humidity.
I have changed out lock sets to electronic locks for my convenience some people like them some dont. Check out the lock set prior to purchase if you plan on going in and out of your safe. If you are concerned about needing more fire proofing place sheet rock wall on the top and sides to increase the fire rating.0 -
Check into a Modular Safe that way you can move it up stairs or down they are easier to move.

shanley424205 Welcome to the GB forums!
Appreciated your question ... I didn't have to ask it then. Only difference here is I don't much care who sells it, imports it, or manufactures it ... just want quality and value and what ever works well. If the quality is there ... they will get exported from where they are manufactured. If they are made well in the USA they will be exported and bring $$$ money to the States, if not, the product stays local and no money flow to the States!0
