Marlin XL7
Has anyone seen, shot, have any firsthand knowledge of this rifle? I sure don't need another c.f. rifle, but for the price, it looks like something I should have. Maybe a .270 to take into the woods on rough days when I don't feel like exposing the Sako's to bad weather or lots of rock hopping.

where can i get a scope base for this gun no shops around here have any 0 -
It has an internal box magazine(blind magazine). Don't remember about the bolt. I have shot two, one in 30-06 and one in 270. Both were tack drivers.

Thank you. I know it has a blind mag. How is it fastened to the receiver? 0 -

I orginally bought the 30-06 for a bad weather rifle and liked it enough to also get the .270 they have become my favorite hunting rifles my only complaint is the stock. For the price they're really good rifles0 -
XL or XS magazines are attached with a screw into bottom of receiver, which is easily removed with stock off. 0 -
Thanks Spider, that is what I wanted to know. I'm going to order one. Thanks for the input from all of you. 0 -
Chuckle, didn't know spider answered your question.
Good choice on your decision to buy one of the Marlin XL or XS rifles. A very nice shooting rifle for its price. I have a 25-06 Marlin XL. Have found mine to be quite accurate and you should really like its adjustable trigger. I'm not crazy about the plastic stock on it or its blind magazine....but its better than plastic stock on the Stevens 200 and Marlin trigger is much much better.
P.S. I own a Stevens 200 too and I understand the Stevens/Savage barrels will fit the Marlin receiver if you ever want to change your cartridge.0 -
My mistake Huff. Thanks. Used a 25-06 today to shoot some prairie dogs. Deadly with factory ammo, and felt recoil next to nothing. 0
