    Chances are that the revolver wasn't made by Smith & Wesson. "Secret Service Special" was a Trade Name used on inexpensive revolvers sold by a large hardware wholesaler/distributor, located in Chicago during the early years of the 20th Century. Probably it's either a Iver Johnson or a Meriden chambered for the .38 Smith & Wesson cartridge.
