There is a slide lock screw, either at the front of the trigger guard or at the rear of the frame that needs to be correctly set to keep the slide in place. Is this screw correctly locked?

There is a screw at the front of the trigger guard but it doesn't screw in, i can turn it and i just pops right back out but won't come out all the way.

It is not supposed to come out, that is the slide lock screw and when it is screwed into place the slide should stay on the frame. If it won't stay screw in then it may be stripped and that will be a big problem since there will now be no way to secure the slide onto the frame.

The Screw is not really a screw. It's a turn-lock device.
Insert screwdriver, push in, turn 1/2 turn to lock, remove slide.
To lock slide you push in, turn till it releases.
If the screw is out it should be locked, else it's broken.
If you're still having problems email me and I'll send pics
