Ruger Collector question

I just put my hands on a Ruger #1 serial #32-8905 in 300 H&H. According to what I've read these are only rumored to have been built, and if they do exist should bring a premium. Who can tell me?

    Is this one of the "Boddington" additions? I know that a few were recently made with this title. Not sure other then that. I will do some digging.

    I checked my old Ruger catalogs and they show the #1 being built in 300 Win Mag, but not 300 H&H.

    The new Blue Book says there were rumors, and some cataloged but none in captivity. I'm not a member of the Ruger Collectors forum, and have been having issues with my old computer, so I haven't been over there to ask.

    You can call Ruger (603-863-3300), ask for records. With the full serial number they will tell you how the gun left the factory. ie: 300 H&H, 300 WM, 308, etc. and the month it shipped. The partial S/N you gave would suggest it is a factory No.1S in 300 H&H

    Just a little added info on 1967, 68, and 69 No.1 Rugers. Those were the first three years of production for the No.1 and were non-prefix serial numbers. 1970 was the first year of pre-fix numbers for the No.1 Starting with 130-00001 to comply with the new FED Regs

    I missed the 1 in the serial number, I hate it when that happens.
    #132-8905, should make it about 1972 production.
    This rifle is in 90-95% NRA condition and has a Luepold VX3 3X9 scope on it, been shot very little. Can you give me a ball park figure? It may be better to sell it without the scope, opinions?

    You are still missing one digit in the S/N, 132-8905X.

    If buying, you need to call Ruger and confirm with them that it is a "Factory Original", not an aftermarket put together gun. All you need is the correct S/N, they will tell you "that is a Ruger No.1S 300 H&H shipped in month/year". If the factory can't confirm it as a 300 H&H then I would pass on it.

    It's hard to price a gun for someone else. If you collect No.1s, and you need THAT 300 H&H, only you know the I have to have it price. If I were to sell it on GB Auction, I would start it at $700 without the scope and let the market decide. The Leupold Vari-X III 3-9 scope should be in the $275-$325 range.

    Are you sure on the scope? Leupold does not make a VX-3 in 3-9, not sure if they made a Vari-X III in 3-9, But I've been wrong before. [:D]

    Post the question on the rugerforum. Also as suggested call ruger with the serial number and find out when and in what caliber and configuration it left the factory. The ruger collectors on the fourm will have an answer as to the potential value.
