S&W Info

I have a S&W revolver chambered in 38s&w
ser# V83326, It appears to be nickle plated
and on the left side of the front sight
is ingraved ( Parker Hale, England )
any thing unusual about this revolver?
any way to know the age?

  It's what is known to collectors as a Victory Model. It was made by S & W during W W II, for the forces of the British Commonwealth, who used revolvers chambered for the .38 S & W cartridge. Most of the Victory Models that S & W made for the Brits had 5" barrels, and were either blued or Pakerized. If yours is nickeled it isn't factory original, but done after the revolver was sold as surplus after the war.
  
  It's not uncommon to find some with the Parker Hale marking. PH was a British firm who sporterized and converted many of them by reaming out the cylinders to chamber the .38 S & W Special cartridge.
