Colt Pony Rear Sight Question

The rear sight should be a friction fit in the dovetail. I would think a steel punch and a few soft blows with a hammer will move it over for you.

you should shoot it some more before you go moving the sight. run a bunch of mags at 7 - 10 yards. load a mag with some duds to check yourself for push, pull and flinch. sight pusher tools are available too. it'll move if you clamp it in a vise.
you should shoot it some more before you go moving the sight.
mark the sight and slide so you'll see the movement. pad the slide on both sides with wood or plastic and get it as low as you can in the vise.
you should shoot it some more before you go moving the sight.
mark the sight location on the "pads", remove from vise and notch both sides for your punch, then set it back up in the vise and move it over.

Many small autos shoot to the left simply because of where the shooter places his trigger finger. If you are using the tip of your finger, that causes the gun to rotate to the left just as the sear breaks. Try putting more of your trigger finger in there. Slide the right side of the trigger clear over to the first crease in your trigger finger. That causes the trigger to come back in a straighter line and results in less deflection of the barrel to the left. That method has worked on many of my students. Concentrate on a slow gradual pressure with no concious knowledge of exactly when the shot will go off. I'll bet you see an improvement. If none of that works, then go ahead and make small adjustments to the rear sight.

Be carefull if you remove the rear site. There is a small spring and firing pin lock held in place by the site that could be lost if you're not carefull.

A steel punch would likely damage the rear sight. If you are going to try to hammer it over, at least use a brass or nylon punch.

Any "universal" sight pusher will likely mover the rear sight. Colt did not make a special pusher the way SIG does for its slides.
