Colt Recon 1911 45 ACP ONLY 1000 made

I purchased weapon the other night, recieved Gun. Colt Recon serial #002XX. After close inspection, the clip was made in Italy. Mec.Gar.com. The 50,000 $ question is, did Colt send / issue this gun with this manufacture????The seller did not know/realize and is willing to me 100% whole/send new clip. I sent e-mail to Mec-Gar and will also contact Colt...
Any have any information please advise...

  I don't know the answer, & doubt you will ever be able to find out.
  
  Colt has not made their own mags for > 65 years; they contract for them. And, they buy them from different manufacturers, & the markings & finish on the mags found in any model may vary during the run. Mec-Gar is one of the largest makers of handgun mags in the world, & is the OEM supplier for several large gun manufacturers; Colt may have bought some/all mags from them, but Colt doesn't discuss their suppliers. Generally, only the Mec-Gar aftermarket mags are stamped with their name, & OEM mags are marked based on the order.
  
  The Colt Recon is a "special edition"; i.e., a single distributor ordered a few hundred guns with special markings from Colt. It has little difference in value from the numerous other "special editions" ordered with an Officer slide on a Commander frame. It's just a Colt "shooter", with no collector value. At least you know the mag is good quality, as opposed to an unmarked mag that may or not be good.
