I just bought a mod. 17 Remington pump shotgun at an estate sale. This is the first one I have seen, just asking some feed back on this model.

Hello, i have a Remington model 17, serial no.57430. It has a solid rib barrel, the bore is bright, looks in great shape. The bluing is worn in the normal areas, may have had some minor rust,(some rough spots) but no pitting. The stock looks as though it could have been refinished and shows signs of wear and a few minor dings. The butte plate is chipped on the bottom. Can anyone tell me what i have here?
thanks[?]0 -
dubleuhb... You have a 20 gauge pump shotgun made by Remington... Quote.........It was designed by John Browning and is 20 ga. only which means that everything is scaled for the 20. Remington made 72,644 from 1921 thru 1937. The design was taken over by Ithaca after the patent expired and Remington stopped making them. Ithaca called it the model 37 .... 0 -
Thanks gnprts, do you or anybody no of it's value? I just recently aquired it from a family member and not really sure what it is worth. 0 -
You nailed it gnprts , except I seem to remember that Remington sold the patent to Ithica in 1937 hence the model designation 37 by them ! 0
