I've been poking around looking for a secure gun inventory program. I've looked at the one offered at somanyroads and they don't offer a download anymore. Any ideas good or bad?
    thanks, Richard AKA yblockhead

I have the Gunsafe program from Somanyroads. If you e-mail me through the forum e-mail with your direct e-mail address, I can send you the zip file. Or, you can download the free version of this program: http://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/

I just use excel, I set up a screen with all the headings, make, model, serial, caliber, purchased from, date, sold to, date. It works great and is free!

You can also download this Personal Firearms Record from ATF:

Fleabay used to have a seller selling a program called treasure soft. I use that and it has worked real well for me.

Microsoft Office Excel... simple to use, easily tailored to include any information you want, and it is already on most computers. If you have Office 2007, the built in encryption is very secure.

I'll bet you are one of those fellows who regularly wear a tin-foil hat[:0].

It is extremely unlikely that a hacker (or anyone else for that matter) can break into my computer and open my pass word protected excel spreadsheet that contain the listing of all my old Winchesters. If you feel up to the challenge, be my guest. I truly have to chuckle at paranoid ignorance.

Keep it on a zip file

Follow Bert's lead. Then download the info from your computer into the zip file. Erase it from the computer.

You now have all the info you need, installed in a little storage container that's smaller than a zippo lighter.

If you are one of the paranoids, you can rent a safety-deposit box for the zip file. Or, place it under your pillow, and see if the tooth-fairy comes. Joe
