Cooper Rifle Question
I own a Model 21 Cooper rifle that I really like. The only thing I don't really care for is the fact that the stock screws are slotted instead of being an Allen or Torque headed screw. Do you know of anyone who makes replacement Allen or Torque screws?

Does anyone know if Cooper does their own case coloring, or if someone else does it for them? I've heard a rumor that Turnbull does it but not sure. Thanks. 0 -
I would imagine that you could do some shopping at Brownell's or Midway, and buy your own, and cut them to size. If memory serves me, they should be 1/4-20.

Isn't the 1/4 - 20 the same thread as a Remington screw? 0 -
Yes...actually, it is most common among several manufacturer's, but check to make sure first. The rear could be smaller.

If the thread pitch is the same as Remington that's good, I've replaced some Remington slotted with the hex type(from Brownells). Pretty sure front & back are the same pitch, but different lengths. And of course the length may need to be changed for the Cooper.
Keep in mind the screws are not threaded their entire length. Don't know how the Cooper is made but on the Remington if the front screw is to long it will intrude into the lower locking lug area of the receiver. My 700 VLS came with a too long a stock screw, when socked down tight the bolt lut cammed against it & made closing the bolt a pain.
May be advisible to buy two rear (longer) screws and one front in case the Kimber front requires a longer screw than the Remington - the screws are cheap.0 -
