maadi ak 47 help

I have a maadi ak47 and I'm having trouble loading it.Everytime I try to cock it the tip of the shell gets caught at the edge of the chamber. I'm hoping this is an easy problem to fix,I just cant figure it out. I've tried several different mags even maadi made mags. Is there anybody out there that could please help me?

    You're "rocking" the magazines in and then rotating them back into they lock into place, right?

    When the mags are in place, do they show any wobble or play at all?

    Are you using normal military type full-metal jacket ammo? AKs don't like hollow point ammo, and soft-point ammo can have its tips deformed to the point where they won't feed right.

    When you charge (load) the gun, you're bringing the charging handle all the way back, and then letting it snap forward briskly? If you don't do this, you can have feeding issues.

    If you've eliminated ammo, magazines, and loading techniques as a source of the problem, you can have this issue (of bullet noses hitting the bottom of the barrel breech) if the bullet-guide/feed ramp isn't correct or aligned right.

    If I remember right, fixing this involves replacing the bullet guide (which is just a piece of metal attached to the receiver behind the barrel breech) with a slightly higher one, or shimming it upwards. Unfortunately, these are usually riveted (not screwed) into place, so if this is the problem, you may have to drill out the rivet then re-rivet to fix it. If your particular gun doesn't have a bullet guide, then it might benefit from having one put in.

    Note that there potentially can be other ways of fixing this problem, depending on where exactly the bullet is hitting (eg slightly chamfering the barrel breech, etc).

    Thanks Beantown I'm going to try the new shells. I guess I should have used common sense, I had the same problem with a tech 9.I also wasnt letting the charge handle slap back up i was trying to look at the chamber to see if it was working. Thanks for your help its greatly appreciated.
