I have a savage fox model BSE.When I first saw it Ithought one trigger was broke off. After research I found that some were single trigger dbl barrel. How do you tell and how does a single trigger work. Also where is the serial # Most pics of list guns like this show a # on left side of reciever. Not mine,just the engraved scroll and word FOX

    I have a savage fox 12ga with 30in barrels. it is a model BSE-c and is a single trigger, and no markings as to what choke the barrels are.
    I have two main quetions:
    1. where is the serial number ? i have had the gun apart and cant find anything... on other savage fox guns that i have had it was easy to find.
    2. what is the estemated value of a gun like this in 90% condition?

    any other information that you can give well be appreciated.

    Made befor 1968. No need for serial numbers. Chokes are not marked either. Use the dime trick. A new dime will not enter a full choke and will enter a mod choke.

    I would guess the chokes are modified(right) and full(left). All the ones I've seen with 28 or 30" barrels have those chokes.

    May not be serial numbered, but remove the barrels and check on the underside of the barrels and on the inside or topside of the frame below the barrels. Thats where a lot of older double barrel SN's are at
