Thompson Contender Old Style

The .45LC/.410 barrels, do they need to have the choke in or out to shoot a rifled slug or sabot thru them safely and accurately ?[:D]

    I am sorry, that answer is not correct. The choke supplied with the old style contender barrel has a series of straight, progressively deeper internal flutes. They are there to stop the shot wad, and shot column from spinning. The EXPLICIT directions from Thompson Center, were to ALWAYS have that removed when shooting a SOLID projectile, weather 45 Colt, or 410 slug. The consequences of not having that out is damage to your barrel. I have had three of those barrels.
