Ruger Red Label 12 gauge
Greetings. I am looking to purchase a Ruger Red Label in a 12 gauge with an English stock. I already have this configuration in a 20 ga. with 26" barrels that I really like. My question is about barrel length for the 12. That is, should I stick with the 26" or go with the 28"? Is there significant difference in the weight, balance, swing, etc. I occasionally use my shotguns for recreational target shooting but mostly in the field for upland game hunting.

I have a 26" older Ruger Red Label. Its an excellent gun for clays, birds etc. I like the 26" max length for all my shotguns. It swings well for skeet and birds.
Powder in pretty much all sporting loads is burned up in about 22" give or take so your not going to loose any velocity with a 26".0 -
I had an all-weather 28" Red label and found it was too barrel heavy. I had one of the early ones and it was also too shiney though the later ones are much better. Over the years I too have come to the conclusion that 28" is just too long though all of my 12 gauge guns still have that length. 0 -
I like the 26" bbls on red labels, they dont flop open as bad as the 28's. 0 -
