Bersa problems

Hey,
I have a Bersa 380 and i'm having problems with it jamming while shooting. It jams about every 2nd to 3rd round. it seems like it is trying to stove pipe the round and then sometimes it looks like it's just trying to double feed. I need to know what I might try or do to fix these problems.

Also I was wondering if it would be cost effective to take it to a gunsmith or just get another one if the problems are ones I can't fix.

    Did you try different ammo? You can always send back for warranty work.

    Is the slide working freely? Sometimes with hard kicking ammo the magazine/trigger engagement spring will pop out of it's slot. This goes under the right side of the slide and slows it down considerably. Making 'stovepipes' commonplace. The slide still works and most of the time the trigger engages too. But it doesn't work right. If you take a small slotted screwdriver and remove the right grip you can see this spring and if it's in place. Otherwise, as noted above, a new magazine. If that doesn't work then take it to a gunsmith. These cost just under $300 and I'm sure anyone with some ability could at least see the problem within a half hour of looking at it.

    Had a similiar problem with their 9 mm. Sent it back and they fixed it. Took about 30 days.

    Hey,
    Just wanted to say thanks for all the help and advice. I figured out the problem. It was the after market mags I got for it. I did find out one interesting thing though, the Bersa brand mag that has the finger extention also feeds bad just like the 3 others of similar design. Don't know why but at least i'm not out that much money. Anyway, again thank you all for the help.
