help with value of 1911 45
Its a Custom built Caspian/Foster 1911 .45
I'm not big into 1911's so I dont know alot about it but figure anyone into them will know what they want and what to look for.
Its built on a Caspian Frame and slide, all other parts are interchangeable 1911 parts. 4 mags come with gun.
Take a look at pics and let me know what u think.

Without pictures there is not much we can tell you. A lot depends as to just what has been done to the gun.

The value of such a gun is going to depend on what parts were used to build it, what configuration its in, what condition its in, and (to some extent) who did the building.
As a first estimate, figure $300 - 1500. The lower figure would be for a "beater" built at home with inexpensive parts and the upper figure for a nice gun with lots of "bells and whistles" assembled and hand-fitted by a "name" gunsmith.
Instructions on how to post pictures can be found in the "Sticky" at the top of the ask the experts thread. Put your pictures up on a public image hosting site (eg photobucket) then link to them in your post.

The slightly blurry pictures below only help in the sense that they show what general configuration the gun is in. We still don't know who built the gun, and out of what parts, or how good the build is.
Bluntly, an $1150 asking price for this gun as listed is nuts. You can buy an excellent condition Colt Gold Cup or a nice Springfield TRP for that much.
Again, the gun MIGHT be worth that much, *IF* it was built out of excellent parts by someone reputable. Was it, and can you prove it?
If not, its not clear to me why someone would want to take a chance on a gun of unknown build quality, from parts of uncertain quality. Caspian parts are generally good, but by themselves they aren't super expensive and don't merit premium prices. What if the gun were unreliable, non-functioning, or even just inaccurate? Then what?
For $500-600 I'd maybe take a look at it if it were local and I could actually examine it in person and/or try it out.
For $1150. . .not without a lot more information.0 -
