ruger p95 jamming problems
bought ruger nib at gun show awhile back has jamming and misfire problems every time i take it to the range can't get a 50 round box through it i clean it properly feildstrip it at home has anyone else had this problem?

Rugers are actually generally highly reliable.
Something is wrong, though without quite a bit more information it would be hard to nail down exactly what.
Does it jam every round or only occasionally?
What kind of "jam" are you getting?
What kind of ammo are you using?
Are you shooting with a firm grip?
You always could mail it back to Ruger, who should tune it up for you.
Edit: Lets work on this a little.
"Jam" = ????
Failure of a chambered round to go off?
Failure to EXTRACT a fired cartridge?
Failure to EJECT a fired cartridge (ie "stove pipe" where spent round gets caught)?
Failure to LOAD a new round, once the old one has been fired and ejected?
You say the gun was new in box when you got it. After you got it, did you break the gun down and clean it thoroughly?
Sometimes new guns can have left over grease or metal fragments inside that can cause malfunctions.
If you haven't done that, that's a good FIRST place to begin.0 -
Have a more experienced shooter fire the weapon and see if it continues to jam. Many "jam" issues are shooter related. Have you tried a different magazine? Are you using Wolf or other Russian ammo? 0 -
I have 3 P95's and the only time any of them ever "jammed" was when my daughter tried one and it stovepiped due to her flaccid grip. On one shot, she actually had it jump from her grip and fall to the ground. It landed loaded and ready for another shot. 0 -
If is was new in the box and jammimng. Something is wrong. Ruger 95's are extremely reliable. Send it back to Ruger for testing...

I've owned one since 1997 and 3000 trouble free rounds later it still works like a charm. You cannot limp wrist it though. You say misfires-that sounds like an ammo issue--are you using Wolf--if so STOP and use something better. The jams you are getting could be mag related but not likely on a NIB gun. 0 -
thanks for responding everyone i will try to answer all the questions asked the ruger jams after firing 1/2 to 3/4 of a box ammo used is winchester and remington don' use wolf or any other russian ammo don't trust that stuff jam occurs when trying to feed another round into the chamber also started to misfire yesterday at the range use firm grip and same problem with both mags 0 -
I have one I bought new. I can't remember it ever jamming. Shoots good , too.

i didn't break it down thoroughly when i bought it how far should i have gone? also my jam ing problem was when it tried to feed a new round into the chamber 0
