ammo making kits (as cheap as possible)

hi im kinda new to gunbroker.com and its forum and was wondering if its possible to make ur own ammo and use/sell it maybe... also the legallity of this IF BY CHANCE THIS IS ILLEGAL LET ME KNOW AND LOCK THIS TOPIC i apologize if it is illegal

    It is perfectly legal to make your own ammo. It is ILLEGL to make ammo for others without a license and not wise unless you have a LOT of insurance.

    Depending on what kind of equipment you buy, what calibers you are loading, and what kind of components you are using will determine your cost.

    The commonly used term is RELOADING- since it normally involves taking a fired cartridge case, and reizing it, replacing the primer, adding a measured charge of powder, and a new bullet. Some of us make out own bullets, typically by melting and casting auto wheel weights. Rimfire ammo, such as .22 LR, is generally not considered reloadable (altho some folks try to work around that)

    It is perfectly legal to reload ammo for yourself. As of today. However, making ammo for RESALE requires a Federal license, along with payment of Federal Excise taxes.

    There is an entire forum topic of RELOADING. If you want to get started in reloading for yourself, the first thing you should buy is a book- "The ABCs of Reloading".

    It is possible to "make your own ammo" usually known as handloading or reloading.

    If you want to load and sell ammunition, you must have both a Federal Firearms License and a local business license. And a lot of insurance in case you make a mistake.

    they are called reloading presses, check over in the reloading forum you should find most of the info you will need. while it is not illegal to sell reloads I am pretty sure you will need a gov't liscence which is costly. It is not something you are going to get rich doing. but you can save some money reloading for your own personal shooting.

    Making fixed ammunition FROM SCRATCH is going to be pretty much impossible for the average person.

    While it is theoretically possible to formulate your own gunpowder and cast your own bullets from lead, making metallic cartridges and primers is something not safe or practical do to at home.

    It is possible to ASSEMBLE your own ammo at home, using conventionally manufactured cartridge cases, primers, powder, and/or bullets.

    This is usually called "reloading" since most individuals who do it start with pre-used brass cartridge cases then reload them into functionally new ammunition.

    So far as I know, its legal to do this in all 50 states in the USA, though there are regulations in some states on obtaining components to do it with (eg its particularly difficult in MA).

    If you are interested in starting, there is PLENTY of info available on the internet, and even in the reloading forum here on Gunbroker.com.
