Disassemble the bolt
I have a J.C.Higgins 583.16 12 gauge bolt action, I have had it for many years and never did anything with it I need to know how to disassemble the bolt to clean it and get ready for hunting season, Thanks.

Now the bad news- there has been a safety recall by Sears on your shotgun for YEARS. Depending on who you talk to, the bolt can either be PULLED out, or may be BLOWN out, striking the shooter in the face. This is a design issue, cannot be fixed, and Sears is paying a $50 gift card for the bolt being turned in to them. Used to be $150, but was downgraded in 2006.
