Colt Diamondback 22LR

I've got a Colt Diamondback 22 LR 2 1/2inch barrel Revolver, I'm contemplating selling it, but watching the auctions there is quite a wide range of prices that these go for, even of the seemingly same model, size and caliber. How do I tell what the real value of mine would be.

    I have a Colt Diamondback 22LR with a 4" barrel. It is an anniversary edition with serial number starting with AA. The grips have the half Colt emblem with 150 on it. Would you happen to know how many of these were made? Thanks

    I'm not familiar with that model. My guess is that it is a "special edition" from a distributor. The embellishments may have been done by Colt, or by a contractor. Photos, especially of the box & end label, might help.

    Thanks for all your help. As soon as I get back home I will send some pictures of the gun and grips. I have not checked with Colt on this pistol but I have never seen another one like this. Thanks again Robert

    FWIW....My Colt serial number reference indicates AA prefixes were used in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990. 1986 was the 150th Anniversary Year.

    Here are some pictures of the gun. On the left side (the side the cylinder opens towards) there is a colt symbol etched into the frame but looks like it has been somewhat worn off due to holstering. On the opposite side of the gun, etched into the barrel it states "COLT'S PT. F.A.MFG.CO.HARTFORD, CONN,U.S.A." and there is also a "Z" etched into the frame where the trigger guard meets the handle. I have listed these distinguishing marks because they are almost next to impossible to get to show up in a picture. The gun has some minor wear and tear but overall is in EXCELLENT condition for its age.

    Westtexasbob's son is the computer tech of the "Bob" household and was the one to take pictures, transfer them to the computer, and then post them to the forum (and give a detailed description). He has been wanting a good carry gun for a while now and would love the new Ruger LCP. Wouldn't you say he deserves at least this for his labors? HAHAHA

    Colt put the anniversary grips on all pistols made in 1986, the 150'th year of their company.
    I have a set of the 1911 grips with the 150 emblem in them.

    Yep, it's still a standard Diamondback, not a special commemorative edition. A nice gun nonetheless.
