looks like someones take on a better mouse trap??? never seen anything like it before 0 -
It appears to be homemade by a skilled machinist. Nonetheless, it's an interesting piece! 0 -
I went through two of de Haas's books that I have, "Single Shot Rifles" and "More Single Shot Rifles & Actions". Couldn't find anything, even close. Perhaps it's a patient model or prototype?
If you know the ownership history and geographical area of the States that it emanated from, it might help in further research.
I wouldn't be any hurry to sell it, i.e. if you were able to ascertain it's patient model or prototype associated from some notable 19th Century inventor or company it might positively affect the value.0 -
Hi Guys
it does not have any marks on it anywhere. The guy I got them from in this collection had sharps, and a harper ferry and 3 other old guns. I would like to sell this one but have know idea what to value.
Thanks0 -

There is no possible way to put a value on what most likely is a "one-of-a-kind" firearm. Based on the cartridge it is chambered for, it is most likely an early 1880s vintage piece.
As the other fellows have mentioned, it is an interesting design, but not one that is recognizable or that can be attributed to any known firearms makers of that era. From the looks of it, I imagine that it is quite heavy.0 -

Please post close-up shots of picture No. 8 that shows primarily the bottom of the receiver, and picture No. 10 that shows the receiver and the two-screws, to include, close up pics of the top and bottom of the buttplate, and the top of the hammer.0 -
I am going to try and sell this weekend at sale any idea what to ask for it? 0 -
I would definitely hold off on selling it until you have more solid info on this one. positive ID could possibly be the difference between $2000 and $20,000 just my 2 cents 0 -
I do not know what it is and can not figure it out so I have listed it on here if interested
