Need Ruger Mark 3 Reassembly Help

After reassembly the pistol after cleaning will not cock. And now the lever in the back strap will not come out after releasing the take down lever on the main spring assembly...

    If the Mark III is anything like the older versions you may have to give the take down assembly a really good yank. If this is your first time reassemblying it could just be sticky. The reason it won't cock is you missed the little strut that is supposed to go in a detent area(It's a pain in the neck to get it to go in there too and lots of times you miss it.)     Thats why I sold my Ruger and bought a Buckmark! Four hours spent putting it back together after cleaning was too much.

    lol the first time I ever tried to reassemble my Standard Auto it took a while to figure it out--finally got on the floor on my back and got that dumb strut to line up lol.

    Hey .. I called Ruger and their tech talked me through getting things in order so it could go together... This is a friends pistol and he is the one who got it locked up.... The hammer strut was holding the latch.... Thanks for your input.......[V]

    I have all three series of Ruger 22 autos.I had trouble with the 1 and 2 series the first couple of times I took them apart.I got the factory owners manuals,read them and have not had a problem since then.My MkIII is still unfired.I have read that there has been a change in the MkIII owners manuals since they first came out.I like Ruger 22 autos.A 61 year old design that works.Only Colt pattern 1911 pistols have more aftermarket parts than the little Rugers.Parts are easy and cheap to buy.Many of the parts interchange between the three series.No other 22 auto can make those claims.

    I read the manual and it does not have any information other than the usual instructions... This happened to be one of Ruger's 22/45 and has the magazine safety. When putting the mainspring housing in take notice that you should have a small (1/8") amount of resistance just before the housing closes. The resistance indicates that the hammer strut is in the correct position on the main spring plunger. If no resistance ... do not pull the slide back... Unlatch and hold pistol with barrel pointed up in the one o:clock position. Ruger's tech service is outstanding

    Rather have a Ruger MKII Gov't. Competition Target than ANY H-S; grips feel better, sights are easier to adjust, finer gap in rear sight, more consistent trigger pull, IMO a better gun all 'round!
    Never seen a H-S shooting silhouette around here; must be used for scarin' cats outta the trashcans.
