Remington 03-A3 Stock Question
My grandfather recently gave me his old 03-A3 rifle. I know the stock it has now is not the one it was sold with. I have been searching online for a replacement, but have had very little success. Does anyone know of a good site to find either an original stock and a newer replacement, so I can use it as a hunting rifle. Thanks in advance and Ill upload some photos soon.

You have a nice hunting rifle, just the way it is. If you want to restore it several here can advise you on the project. As a hunting rifle it is worth 200-250.
Restored, it MAY be worth a lot more.0 -
It's not worth trying to restore. It's been refinished & parts are mixed. I believe the bolt is an early one that is not considered safe (handle appears straight). You not only need the stock, but also handguard, barrel bands, butt plate, & other parts, none of which are cheap or readily available.
Plus, we don't know the bore condition, which would tell us if the barrel needs replacement.

I don't really need anymore weapons, and I'm sure he would rather me be able to pay some bills to help my family. Any way thank you all for the input, I think I might turn this into a new rifle. I found a nice scope mount I might pick up and a new stock. Anyone have any suggestions I can compare to? 0 -
I would respectfully dissagree with nmyers. From the pictures, it appears to me that the finish is origional, the bolt looks to be the proper one for the rifle. I believe it to be a good candidate to be returned to origional and as such, would be valued in the $600+ range (depending, of course, on bore condition). You will need the stock set together with the bands, butt plate, rear sling swivel as has been said. Should you decide to make a hunting rifle out of it, the cost of the stock, forging the bolt (if you intend to use a scope) drilling and tapping for the scope mount, refinishing, etc. will be several hundred dollars and your rifle will still be worth about what it's worth now. If it were mine, I'd keep it as Grandpa's gun and gradually restore it to origional as I could find and afford the parts.
