Terni Cal 6.5 Value Question

I have two 1918 Terni Cal 6.5 rifles that are in absolutely awful condition. Are they worth restoring?

    I wouldn't waste any time or money on them. Part them out on the auction. Back in the 50/60's time frame gunstores used to have them by the barrel full, your choice for 10 bucks. In absolute terms their worth more then that now, but only in at least VG condition.

    I wouldn't spend any significant $$$ on them, but if the barrels are OK and action parts there, and all you're spending is time, they are pleasant to shoot and generally accurate despite their lousy reputation. Ammo costs a bit much, I think the cheapest is Privi Partizan from Grafs for $19.00 - which is about 6X what these guns sold for when imported in the 50s. I'd guess now a cleaned up one would grab about $150.00 or so?

    I still have the carbine with scope bought about 50 years ago, haven't used it in years but I did learn to reload with the thing.

    Lamps not such a bad idea - I used to have a lamp made with a Vetterli. Those Italian rifles have quite the rep .... [;)]

    The barrels are completely corroded and the bolt is rusted shut. I guess lamp it is. [:D]

    No one seems to have mentioned it, but these would be Carcano rifles or carbines... Terni was the arsenal.

    A wise decision -break out the Minwax and Rustoleum for a quick refinish.

    I know you'll spend at least $150 if not more having the bore punched out to accept 7.5 Carcano rounds. Just out of curiosity, is that even possible? Or any other caliber for that matter?
