Antique musket shipping question
help with shipping insurance. have a percussion musket NEw Haven 1828 VSP & EW Blake. 58" overall length. dont know how to insure for shipping. no clue on the value. excellent condition.

It is an oversize package for UPS. I don't think you will find a hard case that long. If you decide to insure it for over 1K, they will insist on determining if the packaging is correct and adequate. Be prepared to pay about 40-50 dollars. They have a bad track record for shipping long guns. 0 -
20 years ago we sent my dads gun collection from maine to oregon in a plywood box.no problems.this musket obviously was too long so it was left behind.i really dont want to spend a fortune on a gun case long enough...if i can even find one. i could check it on the plane but would i need proof its a relic/antique according to ATF.when u say ups does not have a good track record...meaning the packaging is damaged? 0
