You would have to be a resident of Idaho to be able to purchase. I am assuming you are speaking about a Class III weapon, even if you set up residence there and purchased legally, you would have to maintain residence there because it has to be in your possesion with the form 4.

I don't think an out of state safe deposit box counts as in your posession, and you have to notify the ATF if you are moving out of state.

I suppose if you knew someone in Idaho, and set up a corporate trust, then named both of you as officers in the trust, the Idaho resident could keep it, and you could pick it up and go shooting in Idaho.

I would talk to a lawyer about the Trust or LLC option which MIGHT work for what you want to do.

Obviously you would have to have a location that the firearm could be stored locked from anyone not on the Trust or LLC.

I feel your pain, I am in NE WA. Same with the no SBS/SBR. The ATF would be into me for at least another $2000 if they were legal here. As it is they are into me for quite a few $$$$ for silencers.

There is no such creature, AFAIK, as a "corporate Trust"...typically the only way two people could be "Grantors and Co-Trustees" on a Trust is if they are married.

An LLC, however, IS a very real option.
