Shipping to California

Hi all. I had a question regarding shipping to California.

I was wondering if it is legal to ship to area code: 95765.

I am going to update my auctions to read, no shipping to California. It's just too complicated and I am quite new to this. However, this auction already ended.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.[/size=2][/size=3]

    Need some info on legally shipping mac 90 that i have for sale on gunbroker to c.a.My ffl will not but can i ship to a ffl there.The buyer is a police officer and can legally own this gun. thanks in advance. bob

    If you are an individual, and do NOT have an FFL license, yes you can ship to an FFL in California, who is willing to accept shipment from an individual. It is actually easier for individuals to ship to CA. Put disclaimer's in your auctions that the buyer must make sure it is legal for themselves to have, or they will be responsible for auction fee's, and re-listing charges.

    I don't mean to mock you but I have never run across any area codes that have instituted gun legislation, for their specific area code. Nothing much surprises me in California though.

    Thank god, I haven't lived in California for years. You might give us a rundown on what specific firearm(s) your referring to. Some of the unfortunates who still are forced to reside there, will be happy to set you straight.

    I apologize for my ineptitude. My husband used to sell on this site and I shipped the items, as per his instruction. However, he knew the laws and I do not. He passed away. So I am on my own when it comes to state laws and such. So I don't know whether I can ship ammunition here or not. I know it doesn't go by "area code" but I just thought it would give the people reading this post an idea of what area of California I was trying to ship to.

    I'm sorry for your loss. Just be sure you have a signed copy of the FFL holder to whom you are shipping it to. For handguns you must use UPS or Fedex. For long guns you can use the USPS.

    The problem vis a vis California is that their two different type of FFL licensees. A "Curio & Relic" handgun can't be shipped to a "03", Curio and Relic licensee in California. It has to be shipped to a "01" licensee who is a firearms dealer. I don't know if the California Department of Justice considers ammo, to be in the same category?

    I didn't see that last night and today when I tried to find my post I couldn't, lol. I'm not good at this. Thank you for answering. And thank you to everyone else that helped. This has been so horrible and having to get rid of all this stuff is almost unbearable. Especially when you have no idea what you are doing.

    That's not quite true, unfortunately - off the top of my head, Berkeley bans semi auto firearms, LA county has a 1 per 30 max for any handgun purchase, West Hollywood bans certain handgun sales, SF bans 50 caliber handguns and "ultra compact handguns". These are contrary to state law, some may be unenforceable but some, like LA & West Hollywood, have survived court challenges. These are not single area codes, but probably a collection of a few.

    Ammo purchase through the mail restrictions are all over the place too. Laws are confusing enough that Midway won't even mail me empty brass, fortunately they are in the minority on that one.

    Not an area code. Zip code for Rocklin CA. NE of Sacramento. FWIW, as a non-licensed person, you can ship anything to a CA 01FFL that they will accept from you. Including guns that cannot be sold in CA. They can do business with other dealers in other states. We have sellers here on GB that are CA dealers, and their ads may state a given gun cannot be sold to a CA resident. But it is legal for you to sell to, and ship to a CA dealer.
