Is this a Winchester 1894?
This was my great grandfathers and I believe it to be a Model 1894. Can anyone verify for me?

yes you have a m-94 (1894) take down rifle. if you remove the tang rear sight it will say "modle 94 (or 1894). 0 -
If I'm reading your serial number correctly as 68067, it was manufactured in 1899 according to Bert's chart.

Very nice rifle with special features Tak down model with tang sight and Beach front sight. This horse has been rode hard and put away wet a few times BUT for a rifle 100 years old and Used as a Tool it still has some value If in better condition it would be a BIG BUCKS ITEM . If you give Bert H the serial number he can give you the date it was shipped. I dont want to sound rude but to ask information on an Item and then block out part of the I.D. to give you correct information is Sort of like showing pictures of a collector Car and blocking out the part of the picture that shows what engine is in this car.

I assumed the model number was under the tang sight since that is an aftermarket piece.

Isn't blocking out part of the serial a safety issue? That was my understanding.0 -

Blocking the serial number is totally unnecessary. If you view this thread, you will see hundreds of complete serial numbers for Model 1894/94 Winchesters: http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=325084
Besides, with the complete number, Bert can tell you exactly when your rifle was manufactured by month, date and year, which he can not do if you block part of it.
